Serving Overseas

Since our founding in 1977, World Medical Mission has been placing Christian physicians, dentists and allied health professionals in short-term service at mission hospitals and clinics.

(For more detailed information on serving overseas, go to the pages listed in the menu on the right.)

We send these doctors and the Good News of the Kingdom of God to patients in such countries as Africa, Asia, Oceania, Latin America, Middle East and Eastern Europe.

We enable physicians and dentists to serve overseas with a minimum of red tape. World Medical Mission coordinates all the details of the short-term assignment, including:

• Matching interests, abilities, and time frame with a hospital
• Providing orientation and spiritual resources before and during the assignment
• Arranging international travel schedules and airline ticketing
• Assisting with necessary visas, permits, and other field requirements
• Coordinating field housing and transportation
• Assisting volunteers in handling financial details related to overseas service

These and other crucial details of the short-term experience are all handled with care by our staff. We do our "homework" to ensure that, as much as possible, those who serve through us are freed up to make the greatest contribution possible during their limited time overseas.

If you are a physician, dentist, or other medical personnel and would like to request an application for overseas service with World Medical Mission, please use the form below to let us know of your interest. Please include your name, address, phone number, and specialty in your inquiry.

Resident Assistance Fund

World Medical Mission has created a Resident Assistance Fund to assist talented and dedicated medical residents from the United States and Canada in reaching their goal of serving the Great Physician in mission hospitals around the world. Residents, in their last year of training, who feel called to the medical mission field and have superior academic records are encouraged to apply.

Those residents selected for this program will serve short-term in a mission hospital in a developing country. In addition to providing a unique cross-cultural experience and exposure to medical missionary work, the World Medical Mission Resident Program provides practical help to often-overworked physicians and hospitals overseas.

If you would like to apply for this program, please use the form below to let us know of your interest. Please include your name, address, phone number, specialty, and your expected date of residency completion in your inquiry.

Post-Residency Program

Is the Lord calling you to medical missions? Are you wondering how to make the transition from residency or fellowship to the mission field? If so, the World Medical Mission Post-Residency program has been created for you.

The Post-Residency Program is a fully funded two-year program for gifted and dedicated Christian physicians and their families who have been called by the Lord to medical missions. Immediately following your residency, World Medical Mission will network you with a mission hospital where you will serve within your specialty. We will provide placement, logistical and financial support as you serve and we are an associate member of Project MedSend who may be able to help with your student loans.

The application deadline is the July 1st of your last year of training (for example, if you are completing residency in June 2010, your application is due July 1, 2009). You will then be notified of selection by September 1 of that same year.

For more information or to receive an application please complete the form below. Please be sure to include all your contact information as well as your expected residency or fellowship completion date.
