HUNGRY NO MORE: Samaritan’s Purse feeding programs minister to more than 1,000 children in war-scarred Liberia.

Blessing the Children

Dear Friend,

When a country is devastated by war, disaster, or poverty, inevitably it is the children who suffer most.

As I travel around the world, I've witnessed this time and time again - most recently in Liberia, an African country emerging from decades of political turmoil and bloodshed. Samaritan's Purse has been working there since the end of the civil war in 2003. Much of our ministry is devoted to children, including projects to rebuild schools and orphanages.

In the capital city of Monrovia, I had the opportunity to work alongside local believers serving hot meals to children from desperately poor families. Boys and girls who come for lunch also hear a Bible lesson, learn Scripture, and sing Gospel songs. I'll never forget the happy faces of these children as they experienced the surpassing love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

During His earthly ministry, Jesus set an example for all of us in the tender way he cared for children. "He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them" (Mark 10:16, NKJV).

Thanks to the prayers and support of people like you, Samaritan's Purse has opportunities to bless millions of children each year. Liberia is among a hundred countries where we work with local Christians and churches to provide children and their families with food, clothing, shelter, medical care, education, or Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts.

All our work is done in the Name of Jesus Christ, and we often hear how He uses these examples of compassion to spread the message of the Gospel and lead children to faith in Him. This newsletter contains just a few of their testimonies. Please keep these children and ministries in your prayers. Thank you, and may God bless you.

Ways You Can Help

PRAY

Please pray for children around the world who are suffering from poverty, disasters, disease, war, and persecution. Ask God to use the ministries of Samaritan’s Purse to help meet their needs in the Name of Jesus Christ.

SAMARITAN CHILDREN'S FUND

Samaritan’s Purse supports more than 20 children’s homes in places such as India and Jordan that provide loving care for thousands of orphaned, abandoned, and destitute girls and boys. With a gift of $35, we can help provide a child with a month of care, including housing, meals, and schooling—in a setting where they will be introduced to their Father in heaven.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD GOSPEL BOOKLETS

As our partners hand out shoe boxes collected through Operation Christmas Child, they also offer children a colorful storybook, The Greatest Gift of All, that tells them the real meaning of Christmas. These booklets are available in over 70 languages. For $5, we can provide 20 children with booklets designed to help lead them toward faith in Jesus Christ.

CHILDREN'S HEART PROJECT

Samaritan’s Purse arranges for hospitals, surgeons, host families, and churches to donate their time and services so that children from overseas can have life-saving heart surgery. The primary cost is air fare, which averages $2,200 from distant locations such as Mongolia. Your gift of any amount can help make a trip possible for a child awaiting surgery.

EMERGENCY RELIEF

In the days following a catastrophe, survivors need basic supplies such as blankets, soap, and clean water to help prevent illness and further suffering. A gift of $45 can help Samaritan’s Purse teams provide a survival kit to a family who has lost everything.
