Samaritan's Purse teams are in Chinle, Arizona, helping Navajo families whose homes were damaged by deadly monsoon flooding.
Samaritan’s Purse staff and volunteer teams are working in Chinle, Arizona, to serve the Navajo Nation where days of heavy September monsoon rains triggered flash floods. Three people in the region lost their lives in the storms.
The floodwaters damaged many homes, washed out roads, and left some families cut off from help. In Chinle, water spread across dry stream beds and was channeled into residential areas, forcing evacuations and rescues. The Navajo Nation remains under a state of emergency.

Our regionally positioned Disaster Response Vehicles are providing support and equipment to volunteers serving in Arizona. (Image from 2020 response to the region.)
We are basing operations out of Grace Fellowship Community Church in Chinle. Volunteers are tarping damaged roofs, mudding out homes, and helping with other recovery needs. A Special Projects team is on hand to help meet short-term needs for families whose homes and belongings were damaged by floodwaters.
Chaplains from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s Rapid Response Team are also in the area to provide emotional support and spiritual encouragement to hurting residents.
Please pray for families in this part of the Navajo Nation as they recover from these floods and for our teams as we serve in Jesus’ Name.
