Samaritan\u2019s Purse thanks God for the many lives transformed as we provide clean water and share the Good News of Jesus Christ across the globe.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

From refugee camps in South Sudan to impoverished villages in the Philippines, people must have clean water in order to survive. That's why Samaritan's Purse is working in numerous countries to bring clean water to people who have never before had convenient access to this basic need. We're helping to change lives through efforts that include digging wells for entire communities, providing individual households with water filters, and building hand-washing stations at schools to help keep children healthy.<\/p>\r\n \r\n

Among those we are helping is Philip, a Kenyan tea farmer and devoted, loving father who has been diligently caring for his four children ever since his wife died suddenly several years ago. Yet, he\u2019d been helpless to stop the relentless cycle of fierce pain his kids endured due to waterborne illnesses.<\/p>\r\n \r\n

\"<\/span>I had no hope for clean water, there was nothing here.” Philip<\/span><\/blockquote>\r\n \r\n

They were sick so often that sometimes they could barely finish their typhoid medication before they fell ill all over again. Typhoid—a bacterial infection that typically brings high fever, diarrhea, and vomiting\u2014and other illness plagued the little ones because they consistently drank dirty water.<\/p>\r\n \r\n

Philip, who also often got sick, knew that the spring about a mile from his remote village home in Kenya wasn't clean, but he felt his family had no other options. <\/p>\r\n \r\n

“I had no hope for clean water,” he said. “There was nothing here.” <\/p>\r\n\r\n

Around the world, families like Philip's are desperate for clean water. Samaritan's Purse continues to serve remote communities by providing clean water and bringing hope for a healthier and brighter future.<\/p> \r\n <\/div>\r\n \r\n

\r\n Philip\u2019s children are now healthy and no longer have to miss school due to waterborne illness.<\/span>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \r\n

Clean Water Has Cascading Benefits<\/h2>\r\n \r\n

Two years ago, Philip saw God provide for his family in a way he never imagined. He received a household water filter from Samaritan's Purse and his life hasn\u2019t been the same since. <\/p>\r\n \r\n

Philip and his children are finally healthy, which means the children aren\u2019t missing lots of school, and that\u2019s important to Philip. “I was not fortunate to go to school. I want my children to have a better life,” he said. <\/p>\r\n \r\n

They now have clean, safe water not only for drinking, but also for bathing, cooking, and washing clothes. <\/p>\r\n \r\n

And, Philip is saving money since the family is no longer weighed down by the burden of paying for expensive doctor visits and medication.<\/p>\r\n \r\n

\"<\/span>I share the love of God in this community.” Philip<\/span><\/blockquote>\r\n \r\n

Like everyone who is provided a water filter, Philip was also trained by Samaritan's Purse on how to use the filter and practice healthy hygiene. In addition, Samaritan's Purse trained him as a health and hygiene resource for his community, helping to meet both physical and spiritual needs in the households he visits.<\/p>\r\n \r\n \r\n

“I am an ambassador in this community,” Philip said. “The entry point is clean water and hygiene in the home. When you meet the needs of others, people will see the love of God.”<\/p>\r\n \r\n

\r\n \"A\r\n A Samaritan\u2019s Purse evangelism training encouraged Philip and others in his church to share the Gospel with their neighbors.<\/span>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \r\n

Philip and fellow church members who received our filters and training began teaching others what they learned while also sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “I realized the need to empower the church in evangelism,” he said. <\/p>\r\n \r\n

In addition to training beneficiaries how to share their faith, Bible distributions and community-wide Jes\u00fas<\/em> film showings accompany our water and hygiene programming. <\/p>\r\n \r\n

As a result, over the past two years, Philip's church has nearly doubled in attendance and has also started a church in a community where previously none existed. Other congregations in Kenya that we partner with are reporting similar stories of growth. <\/p>\r\n \r\n

Philip is grateful to God for taking care of his family and bringing people in his community to saving faith in Jesus Christ. His favorite Bible passage is Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd—and it has been true in my life,” he said. <\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \r\n

Meeting Physical and Spiritual Needs Around the Globe<\/h2>\r\n \r\n

Samaritan\u2019s Purse is bringing clean water to areas in desperate need all across the world, and we\u2019re doing this in Jesus\u2019 Name and sharing the hope of eternal life in Christ. <\/p>\r\n \r\n

\r\n \"Samaritan\u2019s\r\n Samaritan\u2019s Purse is creating water pans\/ponds in communities where water scarcity presents daily challenges and stress. <\/span>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \r\n

In addition to individual households, we're also providing water access in impoverished schools, communities, and refugee camps. Our teams are digging wells and water pans\/ponds; setting up rainwater storage units; and restoring and rehabilitating water pumps, wells, and boreholes that have been unusable for many years.<\/p>\r\n \r\n

We are also creating sanitation facilities such as hand-washing stations and latrines that will help people stay healthy and avoid waterborne diseases.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In Cambodia, 13-year-old Pres was often sick due to drinking dirty water. He had to bring this dirty water with him to school because his school could not provide students with safe drinking water. Our Samaritan's Purse teams in Cambodia not only provided Pres' school with a water filter, we also installed hand-washing stations and latrines. We praise God that through the witness of Samaritan's Purse staff, Pres heard the Gospel and came to faith in Jesus Christ!<\/p> \r\n\r\n

And in Niger, Samaritan's Purse built a well for a village that sits on the edge of the Sahara desert. The community's hand-dug wells were hard to keep clean and easily became muddy. Now, with a new well that includes a pulley system to lift out buckets of water and raised concrete enclosures to protect against contamination, the village has access to safe, clean water.<\/p>\r\n \r\n

Please pray that as we continue to meet the physical needs for clean water, people will also come to understand their spiritual thirst and will receive Jesus Christ, the Living Water, as their Lord and Savior:<\/p>\r\n \r\n

“Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst”<\/i> (Juan 4:14). <\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \r\n <\/article>\r\n <\/section>\r\n\r\n
