Local Families Make Global Impact Through Operation Christmas Child<\/em><\/h4>\r\n

BOONE, N.C., Nov. 1, 2018<\/strong> \u2014 This month, nearly 5,000 U.S. drop-off locations across the nation open to collect shoebox gifts for children overseas during Operation Christmas Child\u2019s National Collection Week, Nov. 12\u201319.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

U.S. families, churches and groups are busy transforming empty shoeboxes into fun gifts filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items. The Samaritan\u2019s Purse project partners with local churches across the globe to deliver these tangible expressions of God\u2019s love to children affected by war, disease, disaster, poverty and famine. For many of these children, it will be the first gift they have ever received.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

This year, U.S. participants hope to collect more than 9.1 million gifts to contribute to the 2018 global goal of reaching 11 million children.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cWe are honored to be linking arms with our community to help children around the world experience the true meaning of Christmas,\u201d<\/em> said Randy Riddle, senior director of Operation Christmas Child in the United States, \u201cThese simple gifts show God\u2019s love to children facing difficult circumstances.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan\u2019s Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham.
