Allan David, 76, of Chicago, Illinois, was born March 6, 1948, and peacefully went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ January 5, 2025, in his sleep.
"It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35
Al truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive. His generosity and selflessness knew no bounds. Al was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather and an all-around good person who would do anything to get a smile out of a stranger, friend, or family member. He was known for his strong character, unwavering determination, love and support for his family, country, and community. He was an active member and leader in his local church, served in the Naval Reserve, coached Little League Baseball, volunteered in the Cook County juvenile prison chaplain ministry, and led multiple small group ministries.
Allan started his working career in sales and then migrated into grocery store management at both Ingles in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Bi-Lo in Greenville, South Carolina. When he relocated back to Chicago in 1987, he was a dedicated employee of L Karp and Sons which was bought by Baker & Baker. After 17 years, he joined the building maintenance team of Harvest Bible Chapel where he retired from. Even in retirement, Al was a well-known volunteer with Alexian Brothers Hospital where he would bring his witty personality to bring a smile to patients while sharing with them the Good News of Christ and leaving them an Our Daily Bread. Although Allan is gone from this earth, he is waiting for us in Heaven with a joke or a line so corny we won’t be able to help but smile.
He is survived by his wife, Karen David; son, Tim David (Judy David); grandson, Weston, granddaughters Lily, and Amelia David; brothers, Richard (Rick) David, Leonard (Lenny) David, Frederick (Fred) David, and Michael Bernard.
Preceded in joining the Lord, father and mother, George and Rose David
