See how a new house built by Samaritan's Purse uplifts a Texas family who lost their original home in 2024 flooding.
On the same property where floodwaters once ravaged the Avilas’ home in southeast Texas, a new house built by Samaritan’s Purse now stands as a powerful testament to God’s love and faithfulness.
Watch the video above to see the Avilas’ story of resilience and faith amid tragedy.
Laura and Hugo Avila had just finished paying off their home when flashfloods destroyed it during historic storms that inundated their Texas neighborhood last May. Samaritan’s Purse volunteers arrived at the Avilas’ house in Livingston soon after to help them salvage belongings and gut out the home. Still, the house was uninhabitable.
In response, Samaritan’s Purse built the Avila family a new, fully-furnished home in Jesus’ Name. Samaritan’s Purse COO Edward Graham was at the dedication of the home back in November 2024.
“I love their testimony,” said Graham of the Avilas. “I know they’re going to use this house to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout this community. We give God the glory.”
As they received the keys to their new home, Hugo and Laura were overwhelmed with gratitude.
“Our hearts are full of gratefulness to Samaritan’s Purse,” Hugo shared. Laura added, “We never lost our faith. This house is a gift from God.”
Please pray for the Avila family and our ongoing disaster relief efforts across the country as we serve in Jesus’ Name.
