The 2025 summer season starts Memorial Day weekend! Join us in praying that God heals the lives and marriages of wounded veterans and their spouses.
As we honor our fallen U.S. heroes over Memorial Day weekend, we also look forward to hosting this season’s first group of military couples through Operation Heal Our Patriots.
“Each year we get to see God work powerfully in the lives of these couples,” said Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse. “God has been faithful to restore and transform many lives and marriages devastated by the wounds of war.”
As wounded military veterans and their spouses arrive at Samaritan Lodge Alaska this Sunday, May 25, and throughout the summer, they will be greeted by a flag-waving welcome by chaplains, staff, volunteers, and local residents gathered near the gravel airstrip.
Each week for 17 weeks (May 25 through September 19), we will welcome as many as 10 couples for a time of chaplain-led marriage enrichment training. Husbands and wives participate in daily classes and have opportunities to connect with God, to enjoy His creation on wilderness excursions to Lake Clark and Katmai national parks, and to build new friendships with fellow military couples.
We pray urgently that these couples—all of which include at least one spouse wounded or injured after 9/11—will experience the healing found only in a life, marriage, and family transformed by the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Since 2012, more than 1,900 military couples have become a part of Operation Heal Our Patriots. We praise God for the 850 individuals saved through the program and for the more than 950 couples who dedicated or rededicated their marriages under the Lord’s authority. This Samaritan’s Purse project extends well beyond Alaska through our Family Care ministry, which provides ongoing spiritual care, local church connections, and alumni reunions and activities. Our Family Care is a lifelong commitment of community, support, and Biblical discipleship grounded in the Word of God.
We thank God for changing so many lives through this project. We pray that many more couples will experience restored marriages and new life in Jesus Christ this summer in Alaska.
