It was after lunch, and we were to drive just up the road to the two Samaritan’s Purse centers that had been built within the last year. One center housed the vet clinic and supply store and the other was the milk-product processing center.
As we pulled up, a group of men greeted us warmly and welcomed us inside. We sat on a bench and they began sharing about their work. Samaritan’s Purse has provided the men with cows that produce more than enough milk for each beneficiary’s family.
These men have also started using the milk to produce yogurt and ice cream at the Samaritan’s Purse processing center. They gave us samples of the yogurt and ice cream, which we ate in a heartbeat.
I sat back and sipped the cool yogurt out of a pouch. One of the beneficiaries eagerly explained how the milk is processed. He wore a white coat and boots and smiled when we had a question or complimented the product we were enjoying.
“This is it,” I thought to myself. “This is what tasting the fruit of another’s hard work is like.”
I’ve tasted countless yogurts and ice creams, but never have I been in the presence of the hands that milked the cow, that produced the milk, that had been treated into yogurt. Sometimes we do not get to see the fruit of our labor, but these blessed men do.
These ambitious beneficiaries had also recently agreed to provide yogurt for breakfasts at the village school. When the school children are curious about where these delicious yogurt packets come from, they’ll be directed to the Samaritan’s Purse beneficiaries and the processing center.
Here, they can see the beneficiaries’ hard work firsthand and hear about God’s love for them.
