Today marks the 1-year anniversary of the brutal Hamas attacks in Israel that claimed more than 1,200 lives. Well over 200 people were taken to Gaza as hostages; many are still held.

“It’s important that we pause and just pray for an end to this conflict, for the hostages to be set free, and for peace for the nation of Israel and the surrounding countries,” said Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse.

We’ve been on the ground in Israel since just days after the attack, helping with food, water, and medicine. We are also providing 42 ambulances, most of them armored, to Magen David Adom (MDA), the country’s first responder service which came under attack as they rushed to the aid of the wounded on Oct. 7. Sixteen vehicles have already been delivered.

In addition, we are helping to construct two new ambulance stations—one in the north and one in the south—as well as an equine therapy center to assist children and adults with trauma recovery. A medical clinic to serve isolated Bedouin women is also in progress, among other initiatives.

We are also working through partners to bring water, medicine, wheelchairs, and more to those suffering in Gaza.
