Please pray as Hurricane Helene bears down on Florida’s Gulf Coast and makes it way through the Southeast.
Our U.S. Disaster Relief team is tracking the path of Hurricane Helene and preparing to respond as it targets the Big Bend region of the Florida coast, with an expected landfall Thursday evening. Tallahassee and Tampa are among the cities that could see the initial effects of this devastating storm.
The hurricane, now at Category-4 strength, is threatening coastal communities with monstrous storm surge. Boasting tropical storm-force winds that extend more than 300 miles from its center, Helene’s powerful gusts and heavy rains could impact a wide swath of the Southeast as it moves inland and upward. It is one of the strongest Gulf storms of the past century. Population centers in Georgia, Alabama, the Carolinas, eastern Tennessee, and southern Virginia are at risk of flooding and other damage.
In partnership with local churches, Samaritan’s Purse will need volunteers to help homeowners in Jesus’ Name. You can sign up to be notified when we know more details for this response.

Samaritan’s Purse has responded in the Big Bend and Panhandle regions of Florida on several occasions, including after tornadoes this year, after Hurricane Idalia last year, and after Hurricane Michael in 2018.
Please pray for communities along the path of this massive storm as we stand by to respond to affected areas.
