In Memory Of
Bob Burgess - Bothell, WA

A retired businessman and avid nature lover, Bob Burgess, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023, after a prolonged battle with cancer.

His life was characterized by an intense love of family and adventure, optimism, travel, and an extreme passion for both the desert of Arizona and the beaches of Hawaii. Bob graduated from Ballard High School in 1961.

Bob was founder/owner of Burgess Industries which he managed with his wife, Susie. They had a solid customer base and successfully retired after 30 years in business. He loved to play tennis and go hiking in the desert mountains, looking for wildlife and watching birds. Bob especially enjoyed his role as “snake wrangler” while residing in Arizona. He would rescue snakes that got lost near his neighbors’ homes and return them safely to the desert. Bob had a great sense of humor and was a quick wit. Most of all he was a sweet and loving man who will be terribly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Rose Burgess; his brother, John; and most notably his beloved son, Bobby. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susie Morton-Burgess. They met 50 years ago on the beach of Hood Canal. He is also survived by his daughters, Brenda and Evelyn; his sister, Pauline Logan; and his treasured grandson, Wyatt, 11 ½.

A memorial celebration of Bob's life will be held on or around his 80th birthday on October 5, 2023.
