In Memory Of
Carla Roberts - Hampstead, NC

Carla J. Roberts. beloved wife, mother. grandmother. and friend, went to be with her Savior on November 15, 2023. Born to Carl and Marilyn Johanningsmeier on September 26, 1954, Carla shone brightly in the lives of those who knew her much like the stars in the night sky she loved.

She grew up in Freelandville, Indiana, enjoying the company of her family's dairy cows while walking through the fields talking with God. She went on to attend Purdue University and graduated with a Bachelor's in Health and Human Services. Passionate about Jesus, her family, and serving others, she devoted much of her life working to improve the lives of children and families touched by the devastating effects of abuse and neglect. This passion led to the founding of the Yahweh Center Children's Village, a Christ-based residential treatment program and child-placing agency for children ages 12 and under, which served to positively impact the lives of numerous children and their families.

She had a wonderful sense of humor, a love of flowers, a sense of adventure that led to her working at Yellowstone National Park in her college years, and a steadfast determination to do hard things as she sought to obediently follow Christ and love others well.

Carla is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Tony Roberts; her daughter Olivia and son- in-law Will with grandchildren Eila, Asher, Jude, and Novaleigh; her son, Reed and daughter-in- law Erica with grandchildren Lily, Tristan, Noah, Liam, and Layla; and a brother, Roger Johanningsmeier with wife Chris and daughter Kari Johanningsmeier Preston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Marilyn Johanningsmeier; her brother, Douglas Johanningsmeier; and her nephews, Ryan and Jeffrey Johanningsmeier.

While we feel an immense sadness over this deep loss that came far too soon, we are joyful knowing she is healed and more herself than ever before as she rejoices with Jesus in heaven.

A graveside service will be held at Sea Lawn Memorial Park at 17750 US-17, Hampstead, NC 28443, on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 11 a.m.
