Clarold Forrest Morgan II - Highlands Ranch, CO

Clarold Forrest Morgan II of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, died on April 20, 2021, in Highlands Ranch. He was the son of Clair and Bina Morgan. Born in McPherson, Kansas, on Dec. 31, 1936, he spent his early childhood in Iola, Kansas, until the family's move to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1951.

Clarold attended Colorado Springs High School, where he met his future wife, Sherrill Novotny. They were married on April 6, 1958. Clarold attended the University of Denver and earned a BSBA degree, cum laude. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate, and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma (honor society) and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was a 1968 graduate of the University of Colorado Law School where he was an editor of the University of Colorado Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He held a diplomate degree in law office administration at the University of Denver College of Law.

Clarold was awarded a Regular Army Commission on college graduation. By 1962, he was promoted to the rank of captain while serving as a command pilot with Army Air Defense Command, Peterson AFB Colorado. He also held an FAA commercial multi-engine pilot's license.

In his professional career, Clarold was executive vice president and general counsel of Holly Sugar Corporation in Colorado Springs, Colorado; a staff attorney for AT&T in Denver; and co-founding partner in the Denver law firm of Morgan & Morgan, LLC. He was an adjunct professor of business law at Webster University from 1977–1981.

Clarold was active in community affairs. He served as president of the Colorado Springs Rotary Club in Colorado Springs and was a member of the board of directors of the University Hills Rotary Club in Denver. He was president and a member of the board of directors of Cherry Hills North Homeowners’ Association and a three-term president and member of the board of directors of Kent Village Homeowners' Association. Clarold was a member of the first session of Greenwood Community Church in Greenwood Village, Colorado; an elder from 1991–1998; and a 1992 delegate to the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tennessee.

He was fond of travel, flying, woodworking, skiing, and was an accomplished tennis player. His greatest love was for his wife Sherrill for her kindness, beauty, and compassion, and for their children Lynn, Forrest, and Marcia whose maturity, integrity, and love of family he constantly admired.

Clarold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sherrill Morgan; daughter, Lynn Morgan Cahen (Craig); son, Forrest Morgan (Melanie); daughter Marcia Morgan Vandenberg (Edward); six grandchildren, Corinne Cahen Ekle (Bryson), Andrew Morgan (Natalie), Courtney Cahen Menking (Steven), Ryan Morgan (Madison), Amanda Seale, and Connor Seale; and three great-grandchildren, Ellary Ekle, Beckett Ekle, and Ava Menking.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judith Thurston.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Greenwood Community Church on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. There will be a private family ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery in the future.
