In Memory Of
Dave Lindesmith - Black Hawk, SD

David Lee Lindesmith passed away on July 17, 2024, at home with his family. David (Dave) was born September, 12 1941, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Josephine and Harold Lindesmith. He was one of four siblings.

Dave played baseball and wrestled throughout his days in high school. In 1972, he graduated from Salem Bible College and received his Bachelor’s degree in Ministry. David married his bride, Millie Brooks, on February 17, 1963. Together they had four children.

Dave served as a Wesleyan Pastor for 20 years. His heart for service impacted the lives of those who knew him. Following his ministry service, Dave made the shift into the field of carpentry. He worked as a contractor for 30 years. Still investing in the lives around him, Dave used his gift of building to make a house feel like home. Before retiring, Dave spent five years as a Security Officer at one of the Ellsworth Military facilities in Rapid City, South Dakota. True to form, this was just another platform he used to invest in people, offering a smile and kind words to those who passed through the gate.

Dave loved anything with family. Anytime he could be outside, hiking or even lost in a book, taking in the sunshine was a good day! He enjoyed woodworking, reading and meeting new people.

Dave is survived by his wife of 61 years, Millie Lindesmith; and four children, Donna Phelps (Rapid City, South Dakota), Diane Zaharris (Denver, Colorado), Terry Lindesmith (Denver, Colorado) and Jen Peterson (Rapid City, South Dakota); daughter-in law, Debbie Lindesmith, sons-in law, Mark Zaharris and Brent Peterson; three siblings, brother, Robert Lindesmith (Canton, Ohio), Ruth Blair (Owensboro, Kentucky), Sue Taylor (Alachua, Florida); eight grandchildren, Evan Lindesmith, Amy Moberly, Amber Sedlak, Cameron Phelps, Allen Phelps, Mason Peterson, Brady Peterson and Dane Peterson; and five great-grandchildren, Hazel, Katie and Orion Lindesmith, Grayson Sedlak and Bethany Grace Moberly (due September 8, 2024; four days before her great-grandpa’s 83rd birthday.)

Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at Open Bible Christian Center on August 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
