Dianne Marie Koontz was a caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her five children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; grandson, Andrew Sarreal; and sister, Sonya Schilling.

Mom was born to Jay Richard and Julia Guyer on May 9, 1938, in Michigan. After graduating from high school, she achieved her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. Most of her career was spent working for St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange County where she compassionately cared for patients, mentored new nurses, and served as Charge Nurse and eventually as House Supervisor. While working at St. Joseph’s full-time at night and working days as a full-time mother, she went to school on her days off to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Mom and Dad were married on November 19, 1960. Most of the 1960s and early 1970s were spent moving around the country and finally landing in Southern California as Dad pursued his aerospace quality management career. Many weekends were spent on short RV trips where Mom would “sleep-read” in-between cooking and cleaning. She would tell us kids that camping was more work than staying home but she loved the family time.

Mom was a skilled artist with pastels and charcoals, and after retiring, found her passion for painting. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching true crime. She loved to play the slot machines. Mom loved to cook and try new recipes only to find them not to her standards so she would "doctor" them up. She could fix anything with duct tape and gorilla glue.

Nothing made her happier than being with her family. We will miss her dearly.
