Georgene Barrier, 94, of Boise, Idaho, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, from acute respiratory failure. She was loved and will be missed terribly.
Georgene was one of five to parents John L. Susie Jr. and Della Andresen in Battlecreek, Iowa. She graduated from Cushing High School in 1946, then attended business school in Omaha, Nebraska, and worked as a bookkeeper for Merchants Biscuit.
On August 13, 1950, Georgene was married to Darrell Barrier in Omaha. They were married just shy of 40 years. They lived on air force bases in Wichita Falls and Amarillo, Texas, until February of 1952. They lived in Neola, lowa, until 1978, when they located to Billings, Montana. Then making their home of 43 years in Boise, Idaho.

Georgene was predeceased by her loving husband, Darrell, on March 11, 1990, and her three brothers: Kenny, Vincent, and Elmer Susie.
She was full of vibrant life. She took hold of the abundant life that was given to her and it was evident in her deep, selfless love that she expressed to her family and friends always putting others first. Her life verse is "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourself. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others" (Philippians 2:3-4). This summarizes the life of Georgene Barrier.
Georgene was active with church activities, Bible studies, gardening, homemaking, feeding the birds and squirrels, and especially spending precious time with family and friends enriching every life that she came in contact with.
In her latter years, we referred to her as "The Trooper" who never gave up saying she was "tough" and not to worry. She demonstrated to the world how to grow old gracefully. She marched on with courage and always thought about the other person. Again, it was never about her, but always about others.
The world just lost a member of the "greatest generation". We will miss her deep love, her kind touch, her faithfulness, and her example. Thank you, Georgene, for the legacy you have left in us.
Georgene's life will be celebrated privately.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial to Samaritans Purse is recommended.
"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent" (John 17:3, NIV).
