Mr. John David Hughes, 81, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

John was born January 12, 1943, in Alamance County to John William Hughes and Allene Sykes Hughes. He retired after 30 years of service as a Maintenance Crew Supervisor with the NC Department of Transportation. John was a modest and hard-working man who will be deeply missed by his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Byrd Hughes; and his sister-in-law, Katie Byrd.

John is survived by his son, Ronald Hughes and wife Tammy; sister, Joyce Patterson; sister-in-law, Bessie Moore; and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery.
