LCDR Howard Wallace - Wallburg, NC

Howard Atkinson Wallace, Jr., 88, of Wallburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Howard Atkinson Wallace, Sr. and to the late Kathleen Henley Wallace. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Larry Wallace; his grandson, Joshua Chesney; and his son-in-law, Jeffrey Wilkins.

Howard proudly served in the United States Navy, enlisting as a 3rd class seaman and rising to a commissioned officer to the rank of lieutenant commander when he retired after 24 years of service to his country. He received a bachelor’s degree from William Carey College and dedicated the rest of his career to serving others, eventually retiring from full-time work as administrator at Westover Church.

While stationed in Puerto Rico, Howard gave his life to Jesus Christ and his passion for the Lord impacted his family and countless others who continue to live out his legacy today.

Left to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Dale Wallace; daughter, Kathy Wilkins; sons, Brad Wallace and wife, Susan, and Wally Wallace and wife, Sherri; his grandchildren, Michael Wallace and wife, Holly, Jonathan Wallace and wife, Katherine, Benjamin Chesney and fiancé, Kate Avery, Suzanne Zinck and husband, Jacob, and Ellen Wallace; great-grandchildren, Colton, Emory, Olivia, Holden, Asher and Tensen.

The family will gather to greet friends 5:00 p.m.–6:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point chapel; 1720 Westchester Dr., High Point. Howard will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Salisbury National Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will take place for friends and family to remember and honor Howard’s life and legacy 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Cornerstone Baptist Church; 4507 Thomasville Rd, Winston-Salem.
