In Memory Of
Linda B. Poehler - Bridgeport, IL

Linda Beth (Herman) Poehler, 79, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.

Linda was born on February 26, 1944, in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of Paul Wilhelm and Marie (Walsam) Herman. She married Larry David Poehler on July 27, 1963, in Hillsdale, Michigan, and he survives.

Linda graduated from Imlay City High School in 1961. Two years later in 1963 she married the love of her life, Larry, and moved to Washington state after Larry was drafted to serve in the US Army. They lived in Washington for 15 years. While in Washington, she held several secretarial and bookkeeping positions. Linda and Larry moved to Illinois in 1978 to be close to Larry’s family. In 1987 they welcomed their daughter Sarah after many years of marriage.

A beloved wife and mother, the greatest joy of her life was her family.

Linda was an avid reader and always enjoyed a good book. If you asked, she would tell you in great detail her current book she was reading. She also loved to cook and enjoyed watching cooking shows to learn tips and tricks for the kitchen.

Linda had a strong faith in Jesus Christ, and followed Him throughout her life. She served as a pillar of faith for her family. For many years she attended the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville, Illinois, where she served as the treasurer and children’s ministry director. Her biggest fulfillment and testament to God was through her work with the children. For many years she taught Sunday School, organized Vacation Bible School, directed Christmas programs, and started the after-school program “Kid’s Club” at FUMC.

Linda is survived by her husband, Larry of Bridgeport; daughter, Sarah Lynn-Marie Poehler of Urbana, Illinois; brother, Tom Gerald (Sallie) Herman of Imlay City, Michigan; several brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
