
Linda Gail Langley Proctor, age 77, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at UNC Chapel Hill. Born December 18, 1947, in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Bessie Langley. She is preceded in death by brothers, James Langley and Walter Langley; and sister, Myra Johnson.
Linda's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, selflessness, and dedication to others. Linda faithfully served others as an active member of Way of Life Baptist Church for many years. Linda could often be found in the kitchen cooking meals for seniors, the youth, and bereaved families. She enjoyed making beautiful floral arrangements for the church.
Alongside her husband, Steve, Linda devoted many years to nurturing the youth of the church. She co-led various youth activities, taught Sunday school, and was a leader during Vacation Bible School. Their home was filled with laughter and games when they hosted the youth for special events.
Linda's selflessness extended far beyond the church walls. She was a loving and devoted caregiver to her nieces and nephews, her siblings, and her mother-in-law.
In recent years, Linda found joy being with her family at home. She read books and made crafts with her young grandchildren. Linda took immense pride in attending her granddaughters' dance recitals and her grandson's sporting events, where her support was unwavering.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her loving spirit.
Linda is survived by her husband of 55 years, William Stephen “Steve” Proctor; sons, Anthony “Tony” and his wife Karen; Andrew “Andy” Proctor and his wife Christina; grandchildren, Brady, Natalie, Amelia, and Elliott; brother, Thelbert Langley; sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” and her husband Donald Byrd; and sister-in-law, Helen Langley.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Way of Life Baptist Church in Clayton. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. at the church.
