Linda Sue Teel - Big Cabin, OK

Linda Sue (Brown) Teel, 67, of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, April, 13, 2024. She was born on February 23, 1957, in Niles, Michigan, to Earl L. and Jeanette M. (McGowan) Brown.

Linda spent her childhood in Michigan and Oklahoma, where she graduated from Poteau High School in 1975. After high school, she continued her education and received a Bachelor of Arts in vocal music education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. While at Southeastern State, she met Thomas Teel and they were married on May 20, 1978 in Durant, Oklahoma. Linda was a homemaker who taught private voice and piano lessons, and judged music competitions professionally. She and her husband, Tom, homeschooled their six children.

Linda was a born again Christian who was an active member of the local Southern Baptist church from her elementary school years, on. She served in various capacities in the church and local Baptist Association to include: Sunday school teacher, youth leader, church and associational VBS director, choir member, soloist, piano/keyboard instrumentalist, children’s choir director, W.M.U. leader, G.A. leader, Falls Creek cook/sponsor/director, and Children’s camp sponsor/director. For many years, she was an active member of the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma, where she served in various leadership roles, including President of the East group.

Linda had many hobbies and loves in this life, including sports. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Oklahoma Sooners and any team her grandkids were playing on. Linda loved swimming and was a lifeguard as well as a certified water safety instructor. She loved writing and had one published children’s book: “The Priceless Cup.” She enjoyed singing and music, traveling, the ocean, flamingos, sunsets at the lake, and being on mission for God. Her greatest loves were her Savior and her family, and she faithfully served them both.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Jeanette Brown. She is survived by her children, son, Todd Teel and wife, Jenny, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Christy Taylor and husband, Jason, of Webb City, Missouri; son, Phillip Teel of Russellville, Arkansas; son, Patrick Teel of Hinton, Oklahoma; son, Timothy Teel of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; son, Benjamin Teel and wife, Ariel, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughters-in-love, Tiffany Teel of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Chrysta Teel of Haskell, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, Taylor and husband, Hudson, Tyra, Trevor, Trysta, Alexa, Abbye, Ainsley, Addy, Adlee, Avery, Axton, Maddux, and Thiessen; sister, Janice Furr and husband, Dan of Fort Smith, Arkansas; sister, Kathy Fesperman and husband Jim, of Poteau, Oklahoma; brother, David Brown, and wife Sandy of Benton Harbor, Michigan; several nieces, nephews, and other family, including her Pickard family, and a multitude of friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Skelly Drive Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
