Mary Ann Phillips Duvall was born on January 10, 1931, in King and Queen County, Virginia, and moved to her home in heaven from Suwaneem Georgia, on June 5, 2023.
As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she impacted the lives of all those around her with her wisdom, kindness, generosity, and love of music. If you were in need of a prayer, if your friends were in need of a prayer, no matter how big or small, Mary Ann was eager to intercede on anyone’s behalf.
She woke each day with a song in her heart and on her lips. She grew up singing songs of faith and remembered an incredible number of hymns. She particularly loved, “Oh Happy Day,” “We’re Marching to Zion,” “Onward Christian Soldiers,” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” She inspired all, even new acquaintances, through her singing.
She will always be remembered as a beautiful, sweet woman who possessed incredible inner strength. The presence and peace of the Lord Jesus was with her all the days of her life. Generous, eager to help those in need, intelligent and knowledgeable, Mary Ann Phillips Duvall fought the good fight of faith and finished her course. It can rightly be said of her “Charm can be misleading, and beauty is vain and so quickly fades, but this virtuous woman lives in the wonder, awe, and fear of the Lord. She will be praised throughout eternity” (Pro. 31:30). Living with her Savior in her heavenly home safe, sound, and secure, she now calls out to us: “Come and join me in joy, life, and peace everlasting. Jesus and I are waiting for you!”
Those who remain and remember her are children, Ramon Duvall (Marsha) of Panama City Beach, Florida, Carolyn Duvall of Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, Renee Duvall Wolfe (Trevor) of Suwanee, Georgia, Michele Duvall Scannell (Brian) of Warner Robins, Georgia, Michael Duvall (Jenna) of Charleston, South Carolina, and Sharon Duvall Carroll (Mike) of Buford Georgia. She is also survived by grandchildren, Marshall and Ashleigh Duvall of Panama City Beach, Florida, Patrick Scannell of Berkeley, California, Caitlin Scannell of Atlanta, Georgia, Kevin Scannell of Warner Robins, Georgia, Naomi and Benjamin Duvall of Charleston, South Carolina, Justin Wolfe (Coralia) of Cumming, Georgia, Brandon Wolfe (Brittany) of Suwanee, Georgia, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mary Ann was a lover and defender of the Jewish people and Jerusalem, making the trip there three times, in her 70s, and would have loved to go back again.
Mary Ann will be laid to rest next to her husband and two sons at Perkins Baptist Cemetery, in Goochland, Virginia. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 9, 2023
