Nelson Lee “Buddy” Parker Sr. of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023, at the age of 96.

Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, it was his loving
kindness that left a beacon of light for all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His faith in the Lord Jesus is now sight.

Buddy served in the Navy during WWII from 1944 to 1946. He found many ways to serve during his life, including as head usher at Calvary Church for many years and even in later years at his beloved Home Depot, where he worked full time up until age 94. He loved people, and his cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed.

Buddy is predeceased by his beautiful wife, Jean. He was a proud daddy to his son, Nelson Lee “Buddy” Jr. (wife Liz Parker) of Matthews; and two daughters, Stephanie Huneycutt of Charlotte, and Julie Game (husband Buddy Game) of Wilkesboro. He is also survived by grandchildren, Heather Cooper (husband Tim) of Indian Trail, Nelson Lee “Buddy” Parker III
(wife Angela) of Monroe, Emily Kelker (husband Nolan) of Charlotte, Charlie Huneycutt of Charlotte, and Billy Huneycutt of Charlotte. Buddy’s great-grandchildren, are Brandon Cooper (wife Elayna) of Garner, Shelby Cooper, Mason Parker, Samantha Parker, Jayden Kelker, Greylyn Kelker, and Ryann Kelker.

The family will receive friends at Calvary Church Chapel on Friday, February 3, 2023, starting at 11 a.m., and the funeral service will follow at noon. Burial will be on the church grounds at Calvary Cemetery. Calvary Church is located at 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte, North Carolina.
