Richard J. Burns - New Wilmington, PA

Richard John Burns, 93, of Wynfield Lane, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 25, 2020, at St Paul’s Senior Living Community in Greenville, Pennsylvania.

Richard was born on Nov. 23, 1926, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Richard Jasper Burns and Annabelle McIntosh Burns. He was a disabled Army veteran, having served with the ground forces in the Asian Pacific theatre from 1944 to 1946. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carol Elaine Loth, whom he married on Nov. 5, 1949. Richard retired as a rancher and breeder of mutation mink and was a lay minister affiliated with the Assemblies of God.

In addition to his wife, Carol, survivors include two daughters, Candace (William) Roth and Renay (Donald) Montgomery; two sons, R. Mark (Kimberly) Burns and John (Audrene) Burns; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly.

There will be a private service at The Smith Funeral Home in New Wilmington. Interment will follow at The Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington County, PA. A public memorial service will be announced at a later date.
