Robert Peter Opel - Fort Worth, TX

Robert Peter Opel, better known to all as Bob Opel, passed away on August 14, 2021, at age 84, in Fort Worth, Texas, early in the morning. Bob was born on January 28, 1937, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Otto and Grace Opel. Three homes built by his carpenter father still stand in Jefferson City, Missouri, which Bob loved to see.

He loved being a servant to his community and church families, serving first as a Webelos Leader and later as Assistant Scoutmaster with his boys in Troop 143. He served as a Sunday school teacher, a greeter, and a choir member at First United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, and Mims Baptist Church in Conroe. He was a member of the Ford Thunderbird Club, the Conroe Country Cousins, North Star Singles, and the Lake Country Squares. He retired from AT&T after 33 1/3 years, and proudly served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife Felicia Opel; family Charles Free and Don Free; granddaughter Ashley Price and husband Casey; grandsons Sam Free and Sean Free; Melissa Griffin and husband Darrell Griffin; granddaughter Rebekah Griffin; grandson Drew Griffin; Robert Wayne Opel and wife Anita; Roy Lee Opel and wife Christina Opel; granddaughters Carina Opel and husband Alex Huang; Tina Wei and husband Yiding Luo; Anna Opel; sister Mary Ruth Opel; and Kaden Heaney, our wonderful caregiver who cared for not only Bob, but was a great support to Felicia.

Funeral services will take place on August 23, at 10 a.m., at Roberts Family Funeral Home, 850 North Cardinal Road, Azle, Texas. Burial services will take place at 1:30 p.m., at Richland Cemetery, Austin Avenue and Southwest Country Road 2340, in Richland, Texas. He will be missed.
