In Memory Of
Susan Kay Davis - Pinckneyville, IL

On Friday morning, October 25, 2024, Susan Kay Davis, 82, went to be with the Lord. Her love for Jesus and her strong Christian faith were evident to all who knew her, as she modeled His unconditional love in her daily walk and consistent prayer life. This was most evident in her loving devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren, each secure in the knowledge of how deeply they were loved and how proud she was of them.

Susan was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, and truly possessed a “servant heart.” She was happy to serve anywhere she was needed but found the greatest joy when called upon to lead youth and women's bible studies, and teaching senior adult Sunday school classes.

Susan worked alongside her parents at their clothing store before transitioning to real estate. As a successful realtor in the Southern Illinois area for 20 years, it was often said that Susan “never met a stranger.” She cared deeply for her clients and enjoyed the relationships she built working with them.

Susan loved to travel with friends and family. To her, the “ideal getaway” consisted of sitting on a beach with a good book. She enjoyed the days spent tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She also loved watching the birds and wildlife on the grounds of her beautiful country home.

Susan was proceeded in death by her parents, Harold and Helen McCants; her brother, Stephen McCants; and sister, Mary Beth Margenthaler. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, James Davis; her children, Stephen Davis (Kerry), James Davis (Carol) and Lori Beckman (Chad); along with grandchildren, Chandler (Nate), Bailey (Michael), Delaney, Madelynn, Grayson, Colton; and great-granddaughter, Davis.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 9:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Pinckneyville, Illinois. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Mueller Hill Cemetery.
