DART Newsletter
October 2025

Greetings DART Members,
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain”
There are times when the events in the world feel overwhelming. Wars continue to rage for years. Famine and poverty persist. We see nations where, at first glance, there appears to be no active church and no visible body of believers.
Some years ago, I came across a poem by French priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, who wrote that we must “trust in the slow work of God.” While he was referring to God's work in our personal lives, I've often thought about how true this is for the work He is doing across the world. God is building His Kingdom in ways we cannot always see—through people from every nation and walk of life. In multiple countries where Samaritan's Purse responds, we see many people coming to Christ, often at great personal risk. These moments are not accidents. They are the fruit of years of prayer and faithful witness from believers across the globe.
As DART members, our calling is to remain faithful in the middle of suffering. We respond to urgent physical needs, but the greatest privilege we have is to share the eternal hope of Christ. In this way, we get to take part in “the slow work of God,” knowing that He is using even our small acts of faithfulness to achieve His greater plans and purposes.
Grace and peace,
Dave Holzhauer, Director, International Disaster Response Unit

Gaza Response
Since July 26, Samaritan's Purse has airlifted over 202 metric tons of life-saving food specifically for women and children. We are actively distributing Ready-to-Use-Supplementary Food—a fortified peanut butter-based ration designed to help malnourished children regain strength.
Our First Aid teams are operating daily at three secure distribution sites and have treated more than 1,100 people. As we anticipate the launch of an Emergency Field Hospital, we are actively working to build out our staffing. Please join us in praying for our leadership as they make critical decisions about how to best serve, support, and reflect the love of Jesus Christ to those suffering in the conflict.
Sudan WASH Response
Sudan has been torn apart by a war that has devastated many of its cities, including Khartoum. The capital is in ruins, with power and water cut off and destruction visible on every street. For our DART team, this has been one of the hardest places to work. Logistics are extremely difficult—permits are complex, movement requires multiple government escorts, and even simple tasks can take days to complete. In addition, equipment challenges have been nonstop—broken pumps, stuck machinery, and several unexpected setbacks.
Despite all of this, Sudan has brought us much unforeseen joy. The people are the greatest blessing. When we finally get clean water flowing—thousands of gallons a day—communities come alive. Day and night, people line up with containers, their faces smiling. They continually thank us and praise God for the fresh water. It's deeply moving and a wonderful reminder of the privilege we have to serve in Jesus' Name.

First-Time Deployer
When we were called to deploy to Israel to help pack food for Gaza, we immediately said YES. We worked long, hot days in a warehouse doing physical labor—but what made it meaningful were the friendships, the laughter, and the privilege of serving in Jesus' Name.
Our advice to future deployers—first-timers or veterans—is to show up with flexibility and a good attitude. Enjoy the mix of personalities, extend grace to others, and bring great coffee! Start your day 15 minutes early, soaking in God's grace. We can't wait to serve alongside you again!
