Samaritan's Purse volunteers worked in multiple hard-hit areas across Middle Tennessee.

Tornadoes tore through the Volunteer State leaving behind a long path of destruction and killing at least 24 people during the early morning hours of March 3. We began responding that same day to bring help in Jesus' Name to the hurting people of Middle Tennessee.

Three of our disaster relief units—tractor trailers filled with relief supplies and equipment—deployed to the disaster area. Volunteer teams cleaned up yards, tarped damaged roofs, and used chainsaws to remove trees and other large debris. More than 6,000 Samaritan's Purse volunteers joined the effort—2,640 helped on Sat., March 7, alone—and completed 475 work orders for homeowners.

Working from church bases in all three locations, Samaritan's Purse had outreaches in Nashville, Mt. Juliet, and Cookeville. Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains were also on the ground to pray, to provide spiritual encouragement, and to share the Gospel. Over the course of our response, we praise God that 32 people made decisions to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Samaritan’s Purse will continue to support these communities in an ongoing way; details will follow.

In an outstanding show of support, more than 1,000 Samaritan's Purse volunteers came to clean up in Cookeville on March 7.

Edward Graham is in Middle Tennessee to encourage and work alongside Samaritan's Purse volunteers.

Will Graham, vice president and associate evangelist for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, was also in Tennessee to work with Samaritan's Purse volunteers and Rapid Response Team chaplains.

Volunteers helped apartment residents remove items from their dwelling, which was rendered uninhabitable by a tornado.

Edward Graham and his brother Will Graham were joined by Christian music artist Michael W. Smith on March 6 as they helped with the tornado response.
