2023 Year in Photos
We praise God for what He has done through Samaritan's Purse in 2023.
We ministered in Jesus' Name to desperate people around the world, rushing relief to victims of violent conflict, natural disasters, disease, and poverty. From an earthquake in Turkey to war in Ukraine, from wildfires in Hawaii to a hurricane in Florida, we responded with critical aid and the hope found only in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We also helped bring healing to burn victims in Armenia and provided life-changing surgeries to children across several countries. Our medical volunteers served in mission hospitals across the world, while closer to home God moved in the hearts and marriages of wounded U.S. veterans and their spouses through Operation Heal Our Patriots. We also got to see God work mightily in the lives of millions of children and their families through Operation Christmas Child outreach events and discipleship classes. In all these efforts and more, our ministry is all about Jesus—first, last, and always. To God be all the glory.

Alabama Tornado Response: Deadly January tornadoes ripped through towns in Alabama and Georgia, including historic Selma, where our volunteers helped homeowners clear trees and debris and patch damaged roofs after the storm.
Armenia: A medical team made up of surgeons, nurses, and physical therapists served in Armenia to treat patients severely burned by a gas station explosion.
Children's Heart Project: Surgical teams provided lifesaving heart surgeries for children and created opportunities for the Gospel to be shared with families from all over the world.
Global Connect: We gathered with thousands of partners, volunteers, and churches from all over the world to celebrate what God is doing through Operation Christmas Child.
Hurricane Idalia: Hurricane Idalia left homes along the Florida coast in tatters, toppling large trees and ripping up homes as it tore through communities near the Gulf. Our volunteers served as the hands and feet of Jesus to help homeowners clean up.
Israel Response: Samaritan's Purse President Franklin Graham surveyed destruction in Israel and met with local leaders and others whose lives and communities were upended in devastating attacks by Hamas. We are providing 21 ambulances, food, and other relief.
Alaska Construction: Volunteers completed construction on a new building for Koyuk Covenant Church in Koyuk, Alaska, our 35th construction project completed in the Last Frontier's remote villages.
Livelihoods: Samaritan's Purse teams helped provide livestock, agricultural tools and training, and livelihoods opportunities so families can provide for themselves.
Maui Wildfire: We worked in multiple communities helping residents in Jesus' Name as they searched through belongings and grieved many losses following the deadly Maui wildfire in early August.
Mississippi Tornadoes: We responded to multiple locations across Mississippi and other states after a violent storm system swept through the eastern U.S. in March.
Northeast U.S. Flooding: Devastating flooding in New York's Hudson Valley left homes underwater in New York and Vermont. Samaritan's Purse U.S. Disaster Relief volunteers, along with Team Patriot volunteers, helped homeowners begin to restore their properties.
Operation Christmas Child: Operation Christmas Child delivered its 200 millionth shoebox in early 2023, commemorating the monumental milestone in Ukraine.
Operation Heal Our Patriots: We completed our 12th Summer Season of Operation Heal Our Patriots in Alaska. Many lives and marriages were changed through the program, which now includes 1,725 military couples.
School Construction: We completed our 46th school construction project in Cambodia this year. In places like Cambodia, Burkina Faso, Vietnam, and South Sudan, Samaritan's Purse is building schools to help at-risk children learn how to read, write, dream, and enjoy a tangible expression of God's love for them.
Turkey Earthquake Response: We deployed a 52-bed Emergency Field Hospital near Antakya, Turkey, following the devastating February earthquake that caused widespread damage and left tens of thousands of people dead and missing.
War in Ukraine: Samaritan's Purse and our partners have distributed more than 221 million pounds of food to those in need in Ukraine since the war broke out in Feb. 2022.
Home Rebuilds: Samaritan's Purse provided new homes to residents of Mississippi and Kentucky where recent tornadoes in recent years destroyed whole neighborhoods.
World Medical Mission: Volunteer doctors and other medical professionals served at mission hospitals all over the world as part of our World Medical Mission.
