On August 5, raging floodwater caused by six inches of rain in just a few hours damaged 173 homes in Johnson City, Tenn. Most of the homeowners did not have flood insurance because their homes were not located in a known floodplain.

The first group of wounded military personnel and spouses to visit Samaritan Lodge Alaska in June enjoyed fishing, hiking, and the beautiful Alaska scenery. Most of all, they appreciated the opportunity to get away for a week and to spend time with each other.

They had the opportunity to grow closer as a couple while attending marriage enrichment classes. Japan Tsunami Relief – One Year Later
Samaritan's Purse responded to the massive earthquake and tsunami that hit March 11, 2011 by sending 93 tons of relief supplies one week after the disaster. We have continued working in Japan for a year to help the Japanese people recover. Our efforts have included mud-outs, reconstruction, supply distributions, and community events to uplift the spirits of those who have lost so much.
