Franklin Graham, Greta Van Susteren, and John Coale visit the Greta Home in Haiti for an early Christmas celebration.
Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham along with journalist Greta Van Susteren and her husband John Coale joined residents and students of the Greta Home and Academy for an exciting Christmas celebration in Haiti on Dec. 18.
During this annual Christmastime tradition, students presented a special program recounting the Biblical story of Jesus’ birth. In addition, Greta and John shared a little of their own Christmas cheer with gifts for the Greta Home’s students, residents, and staff.
Operated by Samaritan’s Purse, The Greta Home and Academy is named for the longtime news personality because of her advocacy on behalf of the people of Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. Samaritan’s Purse constructed the Home and Academy on the site where the violent 7.0 magnitude earthquake destroyed an existing orphanage and school.
Through the Greta Home and Academy we help provide a Christian living and learning environment for orphans and other children in the Léogâne community of Haiti. In addition to providing quality education and marketable job skills, the Greta Home also emphasizes spiritual encouragement through Bible study, discipleship courses, and worship gatherings. The school is dedicated to developing the country’s future leaders.
The Greta Home currently has more than 250 young people in its programs. There are 174 students from the local community who attend classes alongside almost four dozen boys and girls who live full-time at the Greta Home. There are also a number of teens and students living in our semi-independent/independent living programs and in our family reunification program.
