As Samaritan's Purse concludes its response to the Aspen Acres wildfire in Colorado, hope remains.
Across the Beulah Valley in south-central Colorado, concrete foundations are all that remain of many once-serene mountain homes, haunting reminders of the devastation caused by recent wildfires that consumed over 100,000 acres across multiple counties.
Over the last few weeks, however, working in Jesus’ Name amid the charred landscape, orange-shirted Samaritan’s Purse volunteers searched through the ashes of former homes to recover treasured keepsakes for families who lost everything. In the process, weary homeowners experienced the overwhelming peace that only the “God of all comfort” can provide (2 Corinthians 1:3). We also praise God that eight homeowners accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior during this response.
