Families in desperate need receive critical aid.

Torrential rains have pounded northern Vietnam in recent weeks, resulting in devastating flooding and landslides. Hundreds of families are displaced after their homes were severely damaged or destroyed. Many acres of crops have been damaged, threatening the livelihood of farming families. At least eight people have died.

Critical supplies were trucked into affected areas by Samaritan's Purse teams.

Samaritan’s Purse is working in the hard-hit provinces of Lai Chau and Yen Bai to provide emergency food, hygiene items, and cooking kits. Our teams also anticipate beginning hot meal distributions in the coming days.

“When I received gifts from Samaritan’s Purse, I felt that I wasn’t alone. Thank you for caring for people like me,” said Giang Do, one of our beneficiaries whose home was destroyed. “The floods came and swept everything away. I don’t have any place to go back to. I don’t know what the future looks like.”

Infrastructure and schools have also been damaged. Samaritan’s Purse teams have already assisted with debris cleanup at two schools in Yen Bai.

Please pray for our teams as they serve hurting people. Pray for the Vietnamese families who are struggling to move forward in the aftermath of these catastrophic floods.

Vietnam Projects Samaritan’s Purse has been working to better the lives of Vietnamese families since 1996. Our teams are focused on supporting maternal and child health, especially during pregnancy; preventing child abuse and human trafficking; and providing educational and vocational opportunities for vulnerable and disabled children. We also have projects focused on clean water, agriculture, and livelihoods, as well as disaster response.
