The Christian music group encouraged families at several ministry sites where we are helping Venezuelan migrant communities.
Brothers Josh, Luis, and Samy Morales from the Christian music group Miel San Marcos met with Venezuelan families and our staff members at several Samaritan’s Purse projects in Colombia from Sept. 11-12.
Samaritan’s Purse has had a permanent presence in Colombia from 2018, ministering to more than 300,000 Venezuelan migrants since that time.
The Morales brothers first visited our shelter in La Donjuana, where we provide an overnight stay and a hot meal before migrants continue on their journey.
Miel San Marcos also went to a migrant settlement where we have children’s programming and a training course for parents. While the children learn Bible lessons and songs, the parents hear instruction on money management, how to start a small business, and other financial skills.
Next, the brothers saw our mobile medical unit that travels around Cúcuta near the Colombia-Venezuela border to provide basic health care in migrant communities.
Other Samaritan’s Purse projects in Colombia include church construction; protection information to help migrants guard against gender-based violence and human trafficking; and guidance for migrants on how to access legal, educational, medical, and social services in their communities.
As we meet physical needs, we share the eternal hope found only in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Morales brothers are former worship leaders at their home church in Guatemala, forming Miel San Marcos in 2000. Hits from the Gospel Music Association Dove Award winners include: “Levántate Señor,” “Proezas,” “Invencible,” “Agradecido,” “Yo Creo,” “Eres Dios,” “El Gozo Del Señor,” “Tu Presencia,” and “Jehová de Los Ejércitos.”
