The 11th annual High Country Warrior Ride raised funds for Operation Heal Our Patriots.
More than 200 motorcyclists gathered on Saturday, May 21, for the 11th annual High Country Warrior Ride to raise funds for Operation Heal Our Patriots, the Samaritan’s Purse project aimed at strengthening the marriages of veterans wounded in post-9/11 combat operations. Starting at our International Headquarters in Boone, North Carolina, 151 motorcycles traveled together some 80 miles along the Blue Ridge Parkway before returning to their starting point for lunch.
Over lunch, Operation Heal Our Patriots alumni couple John and Sara Hosea of Granbury, Texas, shared with participants how God used the ministry to save their marriage after they visited Samaritan Lodge Alaska in 2017. During the day, attendees also heard from Vice President of Operations Edward Graham—an Army veteran himself, Operation Heal Our Patriots Program Director John Pryor, and Mark Speir, founder of the High Country Warrior Ride.
Operation Heal Our Patriots provides wounded veterans and their spouses a week of Biblically-based marriage enrichment and wilderness activities in the pristine area surrounding Lake Clark National Park. Once a couple makes the Alaska trip, Samaritan’s Purse journeys with them for life through an ongoing Family Care program led by a team of chaplains.
