Samaritan's Purse responds to South Carolina as volunteers continue to assist homeowners with clean up in communities devastated by Hurricane Florence.

As Samaritan’s Purse continues to assist homeowners in three different cities in North Carolina following Hurricane Florence, we are responding to calls for help in South Carolina.

Staff and a disaster relief unit—a tractor trailer filled with equipment and supplies—have been sent to Horry County, where flooding occurred when the storm headed south and dumped historic amounts of rain after making landfall on Sept. 14 in Wilmington, N.C.

Swollen rivers in South Carolina only crested late last week and once they did areas of flooding have surfaced. Samaritan’s Purse has not forgotten affected homeowners in the Palmetto State and our volunteers will now come alongside them in Jesus’ Name.

Our base of operations in Horry County will be

Socastee Baptist Church
3690 Socastee Boulevard
Myrtle Beach, SC 29588

Volunteers will help with chainsawing downed trees, tarping roofs, and mudding out flooded homes.

Since sending out our first volunteers on Sept. 17, more than 2,900 people have deployed throughout New Bern, Jacksonville, and Wilmington. We have already been able to help more than 550 families, and we praise God that 55 people have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Crisis-trained chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team are on site in each location, providing spiritual and emotional care.

Please pray that God will protect our teams and give them strength and that He will continue to transform lives and communities through the power of the Gospel.

Please continue to pray for homeowners and for our teams as we continue this long recovery effort.
