On the Road in Jesus’ Name

Daniel Erickson rides his bicycle to volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse disaster relief efforts, including cleanups in Panama City, Florida, and rebuilds in Pearland, Texas. Watch the video.

Jesus’ words inspired cross-country bicyclist Daniel Erickson:

“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life” (Matthew 19:29, NKJV).

Two years ago, Daniel said, “I started feeling like I should step out of my comfort zone and leave everything behind and follow Him.”

Pedaling out of his driveway in Nashville, Tennessee, he headed out to find opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus. This led him to Samaritan’s Purse U.S. Disaster Relief site in Panama City, Florida. Here Daniel joined volunteers from across the country in coming alongside homeowners whose lives had been turned upside down by Hurricane Michael.

“I started feeling like I should step out of my comfort zone and leave everything behind and follow Him.”

While he served, he learned about the Samaritan’s Purse rebuild projects in Pearland, Texas, that are helping homeowners recover from Hurricane Harvey. Determined to assist there as well, he set out on his bicycle and arrived two weeks later.

“It’s good to be out—not worrying about tomorrow—to be God’s helper in Jesus’ Name,” Daniel said.

Samaritan’s Purse relies on volunteer labor across the country to assist when disaster strikes. There are currently nine different locations in the U.S. where you can lend a hand. Conoce más.
