In 2016, Samaritan’s Purse sent Dr. Seth Mallay and his family to Togo, West Africa, through the Post-Residency Program of World Medical Mission. They served at Hopital Baptiste Biblique for two years.
Their oldest daughter Arwen was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2018, and they returned home to Michigan for treatments that year. Despite the best man and medicine could do for her, she did not get better. But she clung to her faith in Christ in the face of sickness and death.
Eventually, she felt God calling her to return to Togo to share her testimony. Sensing the Lord’s direction for them all, the Mallay family of eight went back to Africa. After an amazing period of opportunity and sharing, Arwen’s health declined. On Feb. 8, 2022, her parents watched their 14-year-old daughter take her last breath and enter the Lord’s presence.
“Live with your eyes fixed on eternity. Live for the One who is eternal.”
Today, the Mallays continue to serve at the hospital in Togo, by God’s grace.
“Live with your eyes fixed on eternity. Live for the One who is eternal,” Dr. Mallay told the hundreds of doctors, dentists, nurses, and other medical professionals at Prescription for Renewal this year.
