A new cross stands as a symbol of hope for patients
Abby Anderson and her husband, Mark, moved to Nigeria in 2011 to manage the construction portion of the revitalization of a rural teaching hospital supported by Samaritan’s Purse.
The original cross at Egbe Hospital fell and sustained irreparable damage, requiring us to build a new one. The new cross not only is a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice, but also represents new birth and new life, just like the revitalization project.
Reverend S.O. Babawarun is a native to Egbe and a retired pastor. He has been influential in the revitalization of Egbe Hospital, spending countless hours volunteering on the project as well as facilitating hundreds of local volunteers as they shoveled and removed rubble. Becuase of his passion and commitment to the revitalization project, his role evolved in chief quality inspector.
The cross will stand as a symbol of hope for everyone who visits the hospital.
“I consider the molding of the cross today as the greatest and most beautiful structure on the compound! It is the death of Jesus Christ on the cross for the sins of mankind that initiated ECWA Hospital Egbe. It is that cross that initiates the revitalization project. It is the cross that assembles all of us here at Egbe. To this, I give glory to the Lord Jesus Christ and commendation and appreciation.”
