Julio Hernandez has served our nation for more than 20 years, and now he’s bringing relief to people suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.

Julio Hernandez was moved with compassion when he heard about how Hurricane Florence devasted the North Carolina coast. “Your heart breaks for people, and you want to do anything you can to help and comfort them,” he said.

Julio, who has served in the Army for 22 years, volunteered with Samaritan’s Purse and worked hard to help hurting homeowners in Wilmington. He served people like Cathy De Silva, whose yard was filled with debris too heavy for her to remove. “It’s a miracle from God that you came and did this,” Cathy said.

Julio is grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people in need. “It’s one of the most fulfilling, enriching experiences I’ve had in my life,” he said. “I’m so full of joy and happy to be here and serve this community in Jesus’ Name.”

We are thankful for thousands of volunteers like Julio who have joined our disaster relief teams in the Carolinas. If you or your church group can help, visit spvolunteer.org. to sign up.
