In March, Cyclone Pam hammered the South Pacific island chain of Vanuatu with winds up to 185 mph and torrential rain, destroying houses, crops and livelihoods, and causing widespread destruction.
Samaritan's Purse responded by sending a team of disaster response experts and medical personnel, and a shipment of some 70 tons of relief supplies. We met emergency needs for thousands by distributing shelter materials, clean water supplies, cooking kits, and hygiene supplies to storm victims. Our medical team treated 1,800 patients by partnering with a local hospital and conducting mobile clinics. We also helped distribute food to over 30,000 families and repaired roofs for churches and schools.
Our teams work in the Name of Jesus, ministering to the suffering and reaching out with care, compassion, and the hope of Christ.
