Samaritan's Purse Responding Through Partners in Mexico

Samaritan's Purse Monitoring Storm in Mexico

Samaritan's Purse is currently assessing the impact left by Hurricane Patricia in Mexico to determine how we will respond. A team of three is currently en route to the damaged area. One team member is on the ground already. We are prepared to send supplies by truck and plane if necessary.

A tropical storm that had been gaining strength since Wednesday developed into a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 200 mph on Friday. It made landfall close to Manzanillo. Heavy rains, flash flooding, and mudslides are expected as a result of the storm and could cause more damage.

Our disaster response team member on the ground, Ben Boyt, has reported that there is lots of roof and some structural damage. As he travels north, he expects that damage could be worse.

"I now have a partial roof, no power, and very slow 3G on a borrowed phone, but we are fine and safe,” Boyt said during the hurricane.

Please pray for those affected by the storm and for our team as it prepares to deploy.
