Blanche Bennett Carter, 96, of Lee’s Summit Missouri, died on March 17, 2024 (2 days before her 97th birthday), at The Princeton Senior Living in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Blanche was born in New Albany, Mississippi, to Ward Lee Bennett and Olice Rudell Tate Bennett on March 19, 1927.
She was a graduate of New Albany High School in New Albany, Mississippi, and Draughons Business School in Jackson, Mississippi. Soon after graduating Blanche married William Malcolm Carter on September 1, 1945.
Blanche was employed by Irwin Manufacturing Company in New Albany for 9 years, then was in banking as a secretary, teller, and later Vice President in Booneville, Mississippi. After leaving banking, she sold life and health insurance as an agent with Equitable (AXA) from age 51 until retirement in her 70’s.
She was an active member of Connection Point Baptist Church in Raytown, Missouri, where she was in a women’s bible study, WMU and the quilting group.
Blanche is survived by her two sons, William Bennett (Benny) Carter of Seattle, Washington, and Barrett (Barry) Lee Carter (Lin) of Macon, Georgia; her daughter, Betty Carter Kindler (Barry) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, William Malcolm Carter (deceased on July 12, 1980), her second husband, Charles E. Horne of Wichita, Kansas, (Married on November 22, 2002 and deceased on September 28, 2005); her brother, W.T. Bennett; her sister-in-law, Helen McDonald Bennett; her baby sister, Peggy Joyce Bennett; and her daughter-in-law, Deborah Holt Carter.
A Celebration of life will be held at The Princeton Senior Living, 1701 SE Oldham Parkway, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081, on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Visitation at 10:30 a.m., and service at 11:30 a.m. The service will be officiated by her grandson, Jonathan Kindler. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 30, State Road 370, Dumas, Mississippi 38625, where she will be buried beside her late husband, William Malcolm Carter.
