In Memory Of
Deanette Betzen - Amarillo, TX

Deanette Betzen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and friend passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024, at the age of 61.

Born and raised in Hereford, Texas, Deanette was the youngest of five and known for her vibrant personality and innate ability to connect with everyone she met—she never knew a stranger. A remarkable athlete, Deanette excelled in both basketball and softball during her formative years, showcasing a competitive spirit and dedication that would be passed on to her children and grandchildren. Her enthusiasm for life and her talents on the field were matched only by her boundless warmth and kindness for others. Deanette inherited her sharp humor and wit from her parents, Manuel and Ida, and never let a good joke go unsaid.

Professionally, Deanette dedicated nearly 20 years at UPS as a clerk and driver, where she was not only a familiar face on her route but also a trusted friend to many. Her unwavering reliability and genuine care made her a beloved member of the community and among her colleagues. Her children will forever feel the pride of seeing Mom pull up in the big, brown truck and letting them pretend to cruise down the road with the doors wide open. Deanette also spent over a decade on-staff and volunteering at Trinity Fellowship Church where she forged lifelong connections with those she served.

Deanette was the proud mother of three sons, whom she raised with immense love and dedication. As a sports mom, she never missed a game or a chance to celebrate her children's achievements, always the loudest cheerleader on the sidelines. She may have even made her passionate case to a referee or two along the way. Her support extended beyond the field into every facet of their lives. When she became a grandmother, her love and dedication overflowed, creating a legacy of joy and cherished memories for her grandkids. She maximized every opportunity to be with them and ensured each grandchild felt unique and seen. She was their safe space and there was not a wish “Grammy” would not grant for her family.

Central to Deanette's life was her enduring love for her husband, Francis. Their love and compassion for each other were always evident, serving as a beautiful example of what a loving and committed marriage should be. Their partnership was marked by mutual respect, deep affection, and a shared commitment to each other’s happiness, inspiring everyone who witnessed their bond.

Deanette was the cherished daughter of Manuel and Ida Vigil, whose love and guidance shaped her into the extraordinary person she became. Manuel and Ida instilled in her the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness, which she carried throughout her life and passed on to her own family.

A devout follower of Christ, Deanette lived her faith through her words and actions. She exemplified God’s love with a heart full of compassion and generosity, raising her family to cherish the values of love and service. Her life was a testament to her belief in Christ, and she instilled in her loved ones a deep appreciation for the power of kindness and the importance of serving others.

Deanette is survived by her devoted husband, Francis Betzen; her children, Ethan and wife, Brooke Betzen of Dallas, Cameron Betzen of Tuttle, Oklahoma, and Jordan and wife, Jenna Betzen of Amarillo; and her brother, Larry Vigil, and his wife, Patricia, of Amarillo; sister, Dinah De Leon, and her husband, Rudy, of Amarillo; and sister, Loretta Aleman of Dimmit, Texas. She leaves behind a legacy in her grandchildren, Rowan, Eleanor, and baby "lil John" Betzen of Dallas, Mason and Bennett Betzen of Tuttle, Oklahoma, and Eli Betzen of Amarillo. These will forever hold her memory close.

Deanette was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Ida Vigil of Hereford, Texas, brother, Dennis Vigil of Hereford, Texas; and brother-in-law Ray Aleman of Dimmit, Texas.
