Harold Hansen - Clay Center, NE

Harold E. Hansen went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 22, 2024, at his home. He was born in Fairbury, Nebraska, on July 15, 1935, to Edward A. Hansen and Lillie L. Hansen.

Harold spent his first few years living with his family in Helvey, Nebraska, and Palmyra, Nebraska, they later moved to Clay Center, Nebraska. He graduated from Clay Center High School in 1953. On August 17, 1953, Harold joined the U.S, Army, serving two years in Fairbanks, Alaska. On his discharge from the Army in August 1956, Harold went to work for Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Co., as a Service Man in Clay Center, Nebraska.

Harold joined the 295th Ordnance Company U.S. Army Reserves and served with the Reserves and transferred to Fremont, Nebraska, to the 809th Suppy Co., 1012 Service Battalion until his retirement as CSM from the military on December 31, 1983. While with the 295th Reserve Unit, they were called to one year of duty in Vietnam. Following returning home from Vietnam, Harold returned to his job with K-N Energy, moving the family to Harvard, Nebraska. Later Harold returned to Clay Center, Nebraska, as Serviceman until his retirement in 1993.

Harold married his high school sweetheart, Sherilyn (Sherry) Newton on March 23, 1956. To this union five children were born. Diane Hansen Rullestad (Steve), David L. Hansen (Tari), Dennis J. Hansen (Terri), Denise Hansen Carroll (Mike), and Lisa Hansen Kerber (Jeremy). Grandchildren, Dacia Harms, Ed Harms, Gabriel Harms (Nicole), Tessa Harris (Derek), Bryan Hansen (Allison), Douglas Hansen (Jaime), Matt Hansen (Kathryn), Brad Hansen (Korrie), Andrea Roberts (Justin), Allyson Hansen, Dustin Hansen (Courtney), Kelly Ferguson (Chad), Justin Carroll (Lynae), Nick Rajaee (Felicia), Kayla Rajaee, Joshua Rajaee, Jonathan Rajaee; and twenty six great-grandchildren.

Harold is survived by his wife, Sherry; Diane and Steve, Dave and Tari, Dennis and Terri, Denise and Mike, and Lisa and Jeremym, as well as all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and friends .

He was preceeded in death by his mother and father; sister, Edna Northrop and husband, Jerold Northrop; brother, Herman Hansen and wife, Madge.

Services will be held at Clay Center Christian Church, in Clay Center, NE. Pastor Chad Ferguson will be in charge of services at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson , in Maxwell, NE, on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
