In Memory Of
Leah Belle Mead - Wichita, KS

Leah Belle Mead was a true servant of Christ.

She was born in Ensign, Kansas, in 1922, the last daughter to Chet and Mary Houser. She has a brother and three sisters. She married her high school sweetheart, Loren Allen Mead, on Dec. 29, 1939.

After the birth of their two little boys, Loren was called into the Army, so Leah and the boys lived with her parents on the farm until his return. Shortly after his release from the Army, they bought land in Sharon Springs and started their own farm. Their third son was born in 1952.

Leah loved music and played the piano for church most of her days, but when they almost lost the farm, Loren found work at Cessna in Wichita, Kansas. He worked in the factory and farmed on the weekends with his family from 1965 until Loren retired. The family continued to farm until Loren passed away in 1994.

Leah ran two households with such precision and tithed first, so they always had enough money for bills. She cherished her family, but not long after losing her husband, she started losing her thoughts and memory. In 2004, she was diagnosed with full onset Alzheimer's/dementia. She will be greatly missed by her extended family.
