Shirley Jean Miller, 87, of Scott City, Missouri, joined Jesus in heaven on March 31, 2023. She was born in Sarepta, Mississippi, on September 27, 1935, to Buren and Winnie Parker.
Attending church was always important to Shirley. She was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist and Fairview Baptist in Blytheville, Arkansas, Desha First Baptist in Batesville, Arkansas, and Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City, Missouri. In her younger years, she loved teaching Sunday school, and she was active in helping the seniors in church by taking them to appointments and fun site-seeing adventures. She enjoyed visiting the elderly in nursing homes and delighted in her grandchildren accompanying her. Most importantly she found joy in being surrounded by her family.
“…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we will see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: Faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13: 12-13.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her younger brothers, JT Parker, William Parker, and Jimmy Parker; and one son, Ricky Lee Miller.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ralph Percy Miller; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Ted Sadler; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Lynn Miller; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Randy Armstrong; daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Roger Gipson; daughter-in-law, Debbie Miller; and son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Stephanie Miller. Shirley loved her 11 grandchildren; Kim and Mark Sadler, Michael, Chris, and Daniel Miller, Richard and Steven Armstrong, Katie Eagle, Heath Miller, and Matthew and Samantha Miller, and she adored seeing them marry their significant others as well. She was so proud of her 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Linda Williams, Kathy Simpson, Nancy Patton, and Patsy Parker.
