Stephen Henry Bachert, was born on September 2, 1956, in Hinsdale, Illinois. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 16, 2023, in Springfield, Colorado, reaching the age of 66.
He was the third child of a family of 11. He grew up south of Bloomfield, New Mexico, where his parents were missionaries to the Navajo. He loved to go exploring in the area and climb Huerfano Mountain near his home. He was always a farmer at heart and even had a garden under his bed.
He met the love of his life Etta Frank in college at Frontier School of the Bible in La Grange, Wyoming. They were married on July 19, 1980, and moved 20 miles north of Two Buttes, Colorado. In January 1984, they moved to their current house in Two Buttes. Three children were born to this union.
He was very dedicated to his family and friends and served the community of Two Buttes for more than 30 years. He worked for local farmers for over 40 years and was always described as loyal and hardworking. He was very outgoing and always had something to say to people. Many people noted his ready smile and ornery attitude.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Etta; two sons, Simon and Skip; daughter, Rachel; brothers, Richard (Kathy) Bachert, Timothy Bachert, and David (Summer) Bachert; sisters, Beth Palmer (Larry), Barbara Islas (Ed), Susan Porter (Frank), Karen Gingrich (Stan), Peggy Stewart, and Sharon Joy LoPiccolo; brothers-in-laws, Jesse Frank (Doris), David Frank (Kathleen); along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Earl and Dorothe Bachert; and brother, James Bachert; in-laws, George and Vela Frank; nieces, Tirzah Palmer, Lydia Hernandez, and Crista Crowder; and nephew, Jeremy Porter.
