Wetzel Paul Perry, 60, of Huntington, West Virginia, went to be with Jesus suddenly on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at his residence. Wetzel was born on July 14, 1959, in Huntington, West Virginia, to the late Wetzel Perry and Lou Verna Perry.
Wetzel was a dedicated employee at River Cities Anesthesia, where he worked for 22 years, serving at both St. Mary’s Medical Center and Three Gables Surgery Center. He was a former deacon at 20th Street Baptist Church in Kenova, West Virginia. He was most recently a member of First Baptist Church Ceredo, West Virginia. Wetzel was an active Marshall University fan and moderator of the MU online discussion board. He was also a proud C-K alumni and played for three football championship teams.
Surviving is his loving wife of 38 years, Rhonda (Freeman) Perry, of Huntington, West Virginia. Wetzel has four surviving children: Nichole Sanders and husband Tai, Ashlea McComas and husband Aaron, Jordan Perry, and Conner Perry and wife Victoria. He is also survived by a slew of grandchildren: Grant, Madison and Olivia Sanders, Rylee, Chance and Alyssa Meadows, AJ, Walker McComas, soon-to-be-born Stetson McComas, and Aurora and Sophia Perry. Wetzel is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2020, at graveside. Burial will be at Spring Valley Memory Gardens in Huntington, West Virginia. All that knew him are welcome to attend.
